Ormoc City – The city council here this week passed a resolution asking Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez to request with the Department of Interior and Local Government for one fire truck and other firefighting equipment for the Ormoc City fire department.

“The Ormoc City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) seeks upgrade of their obsolete equipment”, Councilor Vincent Rama said on their regular session on July 25, 2013 Sangguniang Panglungsod at the New Ormoc City Hall Building.

Hence, he said, “If we have a new fire station, we need a new fire truck. Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez has been requesting this new fire truck since her last term, however, these things take time. Whatever brand they would get, we will be accepting it. What is important is we can get a unit”, Vincent Rama, Chairman of the Committee on Police, Fire and Penology added, as he explained the contents of the resolution he was asking for the council to pass.

Rama, who is chair of the SP committee on public safety, said his resolution is based on a letter from the Ormoc City Bureau of Fire Protection appealing to Congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez and Vice Mayor Toto Locsin for new fire station equipment, including an Austrian-made Rosenbauer fire truck, other vehicular equipment, additional search and rescue equipment and other high-angle gears. Rosenbauer is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fire-service vehicles, he further explained. By John David Agpalo
